Company Background
History
2014-2015
King Fresh Farms was founded in 2014. We made use of an initial land space of 15 acres, which was located at Bangkhuntien Chaitalay, Bangkok.
Under the supervision of Chai Kamsakultorn, King Fresh Farms began growing indigenous Thai fruits and vegetables organically. However, without prior experience in organic farming, KFF experienced low crop yields during their first harvesting season.
The Thailand Ministry Of Science And Technology had an innovation and assistance program which aided by the University of Suranaree in the use of bio technology for agricultural purposes. King Fresh Farms entered into an organic farming program to better understand how to farm organically. The program was supervised by Dr. Nantakom Boonkerd, who is an expert in soil and organic agriculture.
Upon completion of the program, KFF began cultivating and supplying a chain of organic farm products which met all USDA and EU organic standards. In 2015, KFF opened an international standard packing facility which was nothing short of world-class.
2016-2017
In 2016, KFF opened a VHT (Vapor Heat Treatment) certified factory in Japan with the approval of the Ministry Of Agriculture And Forestry.
With certification by the GMP, HACCP and the Department Of Agriculture, KFF became the contracted packing house for the Tropical Green Company as well as several other fresh fruit traders who sell locally and internationally.
The KFF facility is very hi-tech. It features an ozone wash system, digital fruit size sorting and automatic shrink-wrap, among other world-class features. The facility is manned by our post-harvest specialists and our highly experienced team of engineers.
The same year of 2016, KFF organic products launched into the market and could be purchased at supermarkets, farmer’s markets, restaurants and organic food stores. Our organic products are widely recognized as premium quality that meets all health and nutritional standards.
In 2017, a food research and development team was formed for the sake of our “zero waste vision”. Our objective was to develop healthy and tasty organic food with the use of raw materials, thereby reducing wastages.
2018 – 2019
In 2018, KFF started a pre-cut fresh fruit business, with its products certified to GMP & HACCP standards. The pre-cut fresh fruits did very well in the local and international market, thanks to its freshness and taste.
Towards the end of 2018, King Organics started producing eggs organically. We started off by raising as much as 500 organic bred chickens, following the required USDA and EU regulations.
Being dedicated to meeting up with international standards, our chickens were fed solely with organic feed and were all raised in an organic farm.
In the same year, we also kicked off our organic meal home delivery service, meaning you could place an order and get your organic meals delivered right to your doorstep. Our meals were made with 100% organic ingredients and were cooked by our very experienced chefs.
In 2019 King Fresh Farms were approved by the Australian Quarantine And Inspection Service, becoming the first Thai packing house qualified to export Thai mango to Australia. Our organic eggs were also certified by the control union as the first to meet USDA and EU standards in Thailand.
Our Products
Fresh Fruit Under GAP
King Fresh Farms makes it a priority to source the best quality fruits. We do this by working closely with farmers who adhere to the strict GAP (Good Agricultural Practice) standards, which prioritizes good farm management systems.
We carefully consider factors such as area of planting, post harvest methods and general farm management, all this in a bid to get the best quality fruits for consumption. We take good soil management, water management, pest control, processing, energy and waste very seriously. That’s why our fresh fruit products are tasty, healthy and meet all, USDA & EU standards.
A good farm management system consists of the following –
Good soil management – The quality of farm soil can be improved by adding organic matter to the soil such as manure. Crop rotation and ground-covering plantations also help to reduce erosion when it rains.
Factors such as the right pH adjustment, chemical fertilizer type, nitrogen use control, and use of phosphorus fertilizer are also be well considered.
Good water management – A high efficiency water system is the best choice. It’s a great investment and it supplies the right amount of water specific to the needs of each plant.
Contaminated water is not allowed be used, else it affects the crops.
Efficient plant production – Plant crops that have a high resistance to diseases and can withstand to a reasonable extent, the attack of pests. Also know when to plant, because some seasons attract more pests than others.
Also plant crops that are mutually beneficial to each other in the same plots. For instance, planting legumes close to bean plants, this will increase the nitrogen in the bean root-knot.
Pest control – It is very important to check and be able to predict possible disease outbreaks and attack by insects. The use of integrated methods to do this will be very effective.
Pest control has to be effective as well as eco-friendly, no toxins should contaminate the water or land.
In the case of a mild epidemic, burning the portion of only the affected crops is acceptable. In a case of a larger outbreak, biological control methods could be employed. However, in a situation where the outbreak reaches a critical high risk level, then the use of more severe and effective control methods have to come into play.
Keep in mind that before using any chemical substance, make sure to read through its usage instructions carefully. Instructions can be found on the label. Also, be sure to follow each and every precautionary measure.
Harvesting and processing – Always harvest the crops at the appropriate time. After they are harvested, the crops have to be washed and cleaned. They also have to be stored in hygienic and suitable storage rooms, and under the right temperatures of course.
Make sure the products are packaged hygienically before supplying to the retail market.
Energy & waste management – A farm cannot run if it is not powered, therefore the use of fuel, gas or charcoal would be required. All agricultural machinery should be properly maintained and serviced at appropriate times. This guarantees a full and effective functionality
All fertilizers and agricultural chemicals must be stored in a safe place, away from the reach of children and pets.
* Under a good farm management system, animals, plants and the surrounding environments must not be put at risk of pollution or contamination. Follow the proper weeding regulations and techniques and use chemicals according to the mandatory safety procedures.
Toxic elements should also be kept from making direct contact with water to avoid contamination or eco-poisoning. Contaminated land or water would subsequently harm plants, livestock and humans.
In a good farm management system, production efficiency is maximized by keeping records of operations according different production steps. This will help to notice errors or lapses, making any problem the farm people encounter easy to solve and manage.
